Mulberry

I woke up today thinking about my grandmothers mulberry tree. I haven’t eaten a mulberry in a very long time but for some reason today I woke up with a craving for them. They are not something you can find at the market, the berry is too delicate to sell, but once eaten, you will be awestruck with this magical fruit.

The Common Mulberry is a handsome tree, 20 to 30 feet high, of rugged, picturesque appearance, forming a dense, spreading head of branches usually wider than the height of the tree, springing from a short, rough trunk. Mulberry trees do not begin to bear fruit early in life, and few fruits can be expected from a tree before it is five years of age.

I am thinking they would be tasty on top of an almond crème brulee or a honey semifreddo. For now I will just look for a nice tree, maybe to plant in the spring to celebrate the arrival of our baby.

Simmons Mill Pond Walk & Roseberry-Winn

Waking up to a 55 degree morning is pretty wonderful. I have felt a little sluggish this week and was really itching to go on a long wooded walk. The morning got even better when my dear friend and fellow Four Corners merchant Bruce Winn, of Roseberry-Winn Pottery, decided to come along. We trekked around the 400 acre Simmons Mill Pond Preserve in Little Compton, chatted about upcoming projects and took in all the fun sensory pleasures like stepping on crinkled leaves and listening to the wind blow through the pampas grass.

The cut silvery pampas grass heads would look great in some of Bruce's vessels.
Here are some of their objects of beauty:Thanks Bruce for the lovely morning walk! To learn more about Roseberry-Winn pottery

Holiday

There is no better way to spend a rainy holiday than to plop on the couch with a cup of tea and cat by your side and catch up on all your favorite blogs. If you need some inspiration here are a few that will make you purr.

Designmom.com- Gabrielle Blair has such great taste. Designmom has been my daily eye candy even before I was pregnant.

Jordanferney.blogspot.com (oh happy day)- I found this blog as a link on the designmom site; its designmom's sister! A very sweet and pretty blog

Designspongeonline.com-Daily website which has great product reviews and new designer profiles. Grace Bonney is dedicated to featuring students work which creates such a fresh atmosphere on her blog.

Juliezickefoose.com/blog- It's so fun to step into Julie's world which is filled to the brim with nature, lovely children, gorgeous photography and a festive little dog named Chet Baker.

Roseandradish.blogspot.com-Flower shop turned floral and design gallery Rose and Radish blogs about all the magical things in their shop. I can never get enough of their well designed arrangements. Plus every once and awhile something super beautiful involving a cupcake, faux bois, non-dead deer head, or skull pattern appears. All of my favorites!!
